Deep Sedation

Desert Dental in Las Vegas offers deep sedation, also known as general anesthesia. This option is reserved for those who have a fear or anxiety about dental work severe enough to prevent them from going to the dentist, or for those in need of major dental surgery. We care about the health of our patients, and want to make sure that all of our patients are comfortable while in our office.

Some patients have trouble sitting still, or have a low pain threshold. Deep sedation allows these patients to get their teeth taken care of, while being unaware or unable to feel the work being done. Other issues that qualify a patient for deep sedation include very sensitive teeth, a bad gag reflex, as well as those who are in need of a large amount of dental work.

When receiving deep sedation, you will be given medications through an IV that will make you either almost unconscious or completely unconscious — deeply asleep — during the entire procedure. While under general anesthesia, you can not easily be awakened until the effects of the anesthesia wear off or are reversed with medication.

If you would like to explore this option, call and talk to one of our staff memebers, and let them know what your worries are. We want to make our services available to all who are interested, and offering sedation options is part of that.
